Event: Machu Picchu Challenge

Fundraising target: £10,000

Zoe Taylor and Kirsty Wiseman have set themselves the target of raising £10,000 for the NGVFA by walking the Inca Trail and climbing Machu Picchu in 2012.

Zoe said: I'm trying to raise £5,000 for the National Gulf Veterans and Families Association and my challenge will be to climb Machu Picchu in Peru in 2012 to walk the Inca Trail. Sounds pretty but the trek to get there is grueling and often in soaring, tropical temperatures. The added challenge is that I suffer from advanced arthritis in my lower spine and Sacroiliac Joints as well as knees so this trip will be all the more arduous and challenging for me. I am funding myself to go so every penny I raise will go direct the charity I have chosen.

Kirsty says of her climb "The charity I have chosen is close to our hearts. My husband, Mark, is an ex-serviceman who served in Op Granby/Desert Storm and Op Telic in Iraq. Results of which, we think, have affected our daughters rare combination of physicalities due to the cocktail of injections he was administered and the NAPS tablets he took for 90 days."
