Event: Stevenage Armed Forces Day
Location: Stevenage

The event was held on Saturday 30th June on the stall run by Mark and Tracey Williams in the Stevenage Market, together with their 2 daughters Laura and Gracie, and was also attended by Maria Rusling and Louise Clifford from the office in Hull.

The event had been co-ordinated by Mark and another stall holder in aid of the Veterans Armed Forces Day, which formed part of a national weekend of events, and Mark did himself proud as the day went very well well done Mark. The stall held a tombola, which was very popular with the locals and we had many returning to try and win prizes (some could have bought an item cheaper than the amount they paid for the tickets but it was all in a good cause).

Our friendly cockney Eric Bristow had been roped in to run a darts competition and anyone beating him received a signed medal, needless to say this was also very popular. The stall next to Mark and Tracey's is a sweet stall and they kept Eric's beers nice and chilled the only complaint was that he was going through the cans very quickly and the fridge had to be re-stocked!!!!

Maria introduced herself to Eric at the end of the event and in his "merry" voice he said "Oh yeah the Gulf Vets, they're crazy guys and it's great fun at Skegness you should come!!!!!!". Perhaps Maria needs to re-introduce herself next year and have a game of darts with Eric.

A very enjoyable day, with lots of friendly people in the market and working on the market stalls and some nice cakes too!

On Saturday August 25th, there was a cheque presentation at Stevenage Market for all the forces charities involved in the Stevenage Armed Forces Day.

The cheques were presented by the Mayor of Stevenage Councillor John Lloyd, and our trustee Sally Spencer Grey was there on behalf of the NGVFA.

Also present were the MP for Stevenage, Stephen McPartland, and a representative from Ladbrokes.

Many thanks to Mark & Tracey for all their hard work, to Peter at Stevenage Market for his help, and to everyone involved in the Armed Forces Day and the fundraising.

We're also told that next years' AFD in Stevenage is going to be even bigger and better - so we're looking forward to that as well.
