Title :  Gulf Veterans Nerve Unit Tests - Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston

UK vets to register their interest in these tests.

Study Title: Undiagnosed Small Fiber Polyneuropathy: Is It a Component of Gulf War Illness?
Investigator: Anne Louise Oaklander, MD, PhD
Research Site: Massachusetts General Hospital

Dr Anne Oaklander MD, PhD for the Massachusetts General Hospital received funding from the Department of Defense to study Gulf War Illness in the US.

One of our UK veterans contacted them to see if they would also test UK Gulf War 1 Veterans and they confirmed they would be interested in any veteran, the only problem they have is they do not have any funds to help towards your travel and accommodation to get to Massachusetts. We have been in discussions with Siena Napoleon and Dr Oaklander who would be interested in hearing from any UK Gulf War 1 Veterans that cannot necessarily afford to go but would be interested in the tests to register their interest with them.

To do this please contact Kate O'Neil on the details below either by email or telephone.

For those veterans who are able to obtain the funding to travel to Massachusetts to have the actual tests done please also contact Siena Napoleon for further instructions.

Are you a veteran of the Gulf War (1990-1991)?

We seek men and women who served in the Gulf region during the first Gulf War (1990-1991) for a research study. Veterans with or without Gulf War Illness are eligible. This involves one visit to Massachusetts General Hospital during which various tests for nerve injury will be performed, including removal of a small skin-biopsy from your lower leg under local anaesthesia.

Payment for participation is offered.

For more information, please contact Kate O'Neil (nerveunit@partners.org) at 617-726-9391.
